from what i have been reading, the classess from chapter1 will be there, so you *should* be able to make an assassin/monk or ritualist/monk and heal away to yer hearts content ^^

The core just means they will set some of the skills of the existing 6 professions as core skills and free for any expension or chapter owners to have.

Yeah...you guys are correct. I must have missed this new piece of information. Like I mentioned earlier, it was pretty awhile ago when I read this old information...and thought ArenaNet hasn't changed their plan . Very interesting though. Thanks for correcting me so kindly .

So, for new players who seeks informations...I'll correct my old information.
Chapter 2 is standalone and does not require core Guild Wars...I apologies for referencing old informations...seems I wasn't up-to-dated.

Anyways, is this means any further expansions gonna be standalone too?

Edit: 1 more quote added

yes (i assume) to avoid sticker shock of having to buy it or give it to people.

stand alone means they can catch sales of people who want to complete the set and get all skills for a chapter 1 character.

I see...that would be nice since people are not forced to buy the core. At the same time, I'm guessing it will have price tag of full game. It all makes sense now too(about standalone)...since I read they will release collectors edition for chapter 2.

Just an added note: I thought this would be rather obvious, but about the people saying "Oh, I don't have a spare character slot!" you missed the bit about it being available to anyone whether they own a copy of guild wars or not ...

Meaning simply: create a new account if you are full!

This seems similar to the PvP Extreme Weekend where Anet was testing out the new skill balancing. This Faction Weekend is going to do the same thing. Real World testing of the skills. Don't plan on the skills staying the same during the final release.

But oh, it will be nice, oh so nice.

as far as the core skills go, this is strictly my opinion on the matter and has zero basis on anything outside what I think. The core skills are those that you can buy in emberlight, meaning no base guildwars elite skills will carry over into chapter 2 unless you bring them over yourself with a chapter 1 account.

My question will be this: Will we still have guilds? Probably not I suppose.

I guess we will have to all post on our respective guild fora about what our preview characters' names are to make sure we can contact each other to play together.

I really don't think they are "shutting the exisiting game down" for those 2 days. The new content introduced is just temporary and I'm pretty positive that your guilds, characters, and more will be accessible for the preview.

Well I'll take a little stroll about and see what there is to see...

Gaile emphasising the word 'MAY' in one of her last sentences up there, good job I don't watch the x-files any more...
